Be a Part of the Positive Direction Norwalk, IA is Headed

Thinking about Small Business Saturday, I reflect on the opportunity the small town of Norwalk continues to provide to the economy. Being located so close to Des Moines, suburbs can easily lose some identity. However, with determination and a sense of loyalty, members of this community have been pushing and pulling to make its greatness known.

Norwalk Welcomes You

Some would say we lucked out. I believe we were lead here. We had no idea when we moved here 20 years ago that we would come to embrace and support this community called Norwalk, IA. Back then, Norwalk was essentially a bedroom community. My wife, Kristy, and I moved our family to an acreage just south of town and I commuted to Urbandale for work, like so many here. There wasn’t much for retail or services in town, but we shopped locally whenever we could. We loved Scott's Groceries, the small grocery store when it was where Dollar General is now, the small town hardware store and local restaurants, like Jimmy’s and Bambinos. Then, almost ten years ago Kristy and I also became small business owners in the heart of Norwalk.

On Tuesday of this week, as I was walking from our office to an appointment it suddenly occurred to me how fortunate we are. It wasn’t too many years ago, we needed to make regular trips into Des Moines for things and services that weren’t available in Norwalk. As I realized on Tuesday, we can now walk from our office to just about anything we desire: to eat, to shop, to have our vehicle worked on --Norwalk businesses are flourishing.

On any given day, I can walk from our office to a real estate closing, to the bank, our insurance agency, a choice of about a dozen great restaurants for lunch, medical services, investment services, hardware, groceries. The list grows as Norwalk continues its developing.

We love supporting the local businesses in Norwalk. I appreciate how the economy of a small community works. When Kristy and I spend money at a business in Norwalk, it provides income to Norwalk residents, who spend their money in Norwalk, providing income for others in town. This circulation of monetary exchange only increases the community’s desirability and people move here. They want to own their homes and we provide the service to help them close on just the right one. Their money spent on our services is put back into the local cycle as our agents also do business locally.

You can be sure that when you do business with EXIT Realty North Star, you are supporting Norwalk. Some think life is full of coincidences, we believe we were lead here to be a part of the positive direction Norwalk, IA is headed. Our office is book-cased by a general store and a barber shop; while you’re enjoying an ice cream treat, stop in to our place, say hello and tell us why you love Norwalk as well.

Our office has also been the go-to place for lost visitors seeking directions, a local government official needing a place for an interview with a Des Moines TV station, the Norwalk School District's interviews for the superintendent position, Chamber Board meetings, central connection space for business people, classroom space, Boy Scout District Committee meetings, as well as office space for temporary rental. We truly are more than just a real estate agency, we enjoy being available for our community.

We invite you to use our website to search for homes in Norwalk, or anywhere Central Iowa.
