Microsoft to Build Data Center in West Des Moines
The secret behind Project Alluvion has been disclosed. According to the Des Moines Register, Microsoft announced today that it will build a $1.1 billion data center in southeast West Des Moines that will be one of the company's largest centers in the U.S.
The data center will be 1.16 million square feet, about the size of 20 football fields and located on 154 acres of land on the south side of Willow Creek Golf Course just off Hwy 5 and Hwy 28. 84 people will be employed at the center.
This is exciting news for the community of Norwalk, also. The data center will be just north of the city limits of Norwalk and will likely contribute to some development in Norwalk.
